Jessie Marion King - A House of Pomegranates 1914With a bit of time, I've re-scanned the book A House of Pomegranates illustrated by Jessie M. King.  A House of Pomegranates is a collection of fairy tales, written by Oscar Wilde, that was published as a second collection for The Happy Prince and Other Tales (1892). Wilde said once that this collection was "intended neither for the British child nor the British public."

Charles Folkard - Arabian NightsArabian Nights, the stories of one thousand and one nights.  The stories that never ends ... is a book that I've read and re-read countless to times over the years. I can never forget the first time I met Sindbad the Sailor in his grand palace nor Ali Baba in the treasures cave.

Arabian Nights stories is indeed a treasure which gave countless illustrators the inspiration to work on the illustrations for those magical tales to this day and many more future generations. Many great illustrators have worked on the Stories of Arabian Nights, including Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen, Virginia Frances Sterrett, E.J. Detmold, Maxfield Parrish, Willy Pogany and now the work of Charles Folkard.

Claude Monet - Bassin aux NympheasMost of us are familiar with Claude Monet's name. His name and paintings kept coming up every other year or so, either as stolen or breaking another auction record. The latest is $85 millions by an anonymous buyer for one of his large waterlily paintings.

Le Bassin aux Nympheas was part of a four-work collection of waterlily paintings that Monet put up for sale during his lifetime. He saw the oil paintings of his water garden as a work in progress, and rarely sold them.

Virtual Museum Gallery

As an extension to my current Golden Age Children's Book Illustrators archive. I'm pleased to announce the Virtual Museum Project, it is a result of the many years of collecting art books about my favorite artists, trolling around the Net and the frustrations of not finding what I wanted.

The Virtual Museum Project has a simple goal. To display the artworks of my favorite masters of the past online and to be as comprehensive as possible.

Gustave Klimt - Ver SacrumGustav Klimt is my favorite artist from the Vienna Secession period and is easily among the most well known masters of the 19th century. Klimt was born in Baumgarten, near Vienna in 1872, and lived in poverty for most of his childhood, as work was scarce and the economy difficult for immigrants.

In 1876, Klimt was enrolled in the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts (Kunstgewerbeschule), where he studied until 1883, and received training as an architectural painter. Klimt began his professional career painting interior murals and ceilings in large public buildings on the Ringstraße including a successful series of "Allegories and Emblems".

New site redesign and I need some help. PDF Print E-mail

My old site is falling apart, part of the old template stopped working because I upgraded some code. So I went full fledged and upgraded the CMS (Joomla) to a newer version to improve speed of the site and add more features. Some links may have changed, if you're linking to us, please verify and make sure it's still valid.

I'm also looking for someone who can design a logo for me and/or change the color scheme a bit to make it standout and easier to read. I'm using a template and do not have the necessary graphics skills to modify it to my liking. I can't pay you in money, but you do have my deepest thanks and credit for your work, plus a print or two of your choice from my gallery. If you can help me out, please contact me. Thanks.
